Hello everyone,

So the World Cup is over, and France were victorious in the end. If you stayed up late enough to watch the midnight kick-off, it was a very exciting game. I feel like France deserved the victory, but many people were hoping for Croatia to win. Everyone likes a good underdog story. Croatia is a small country with a population of only 4 million, like Ireland. They were underdogs for many matches during the World Cup, but played well to reach the final. People wanted to see a small nation that had never won the tournament before come out victorious. It was a similar situation in the Japan versus Belgium game in the last 16. My relatives told me that Irish people wanted Japan to win because they were underdogs. They were ranked so much lower than Belgium and shocked everyone with the first two goals. Sadly, Belgium came back and won that game, but we nearly saw one of the biggest upsets in the World Cup. I’m already looking forward to the next World Cup in Qatar, even though it’s four years away!

I can hear the cicadas singing loudly in the trees. That means summer is in full swing, and it’s festival season. Last Sunday I went to the Tagonoura Port Festival in Tagonoura Park. It was a fun event with live singing and traditional dance groups. It was very hot and humid, so we immediately went to a stall to get one of the staples of Japanese festivals, “kakigori”, or shaved ice. It’s a great way to cool down in the heat, but my daughter doesn’t let me eat much, because it’s her favourite. We got a great place near the beach to sit and watch the fireworks. Every town and city in Japan finishes their summer festival with a fireworks display. They seem to get more extravagant every year. We saw stars, flowers and even smiley faces! This month will also have Fuji Festival, with the special guest Disney Parade. I think it’s going to be busy around Central Park in that day. Enjoy the festival season!

みなさんこんにちは。

ワールドカップがついに終わり、最終的にフランスが優勝しました。

夜ふかしして深夜のキックオフを見ました。とてもワクワクする試合でしたよ。

フランスは勝利に値すると思いますが、多くの人達はクロアチアに勝って欲しかったのではないでしょうか。

みなさん弱者が勝つ良いシナリオが好きですから。

クロアチアはアイルランドと似て、人口たったの4百万人の小さな国です。

彼らはワールドカップの期間中多くの試合で勝ち目がありませんでした。しかし最終戦に残るほど素晴らしいプレーをしました。

人びとはこれまでにトーナメントで優勝したことのない小さな国が優勝することを願っていました。

これはベスト16での日本対ベルギー戦と似ていました。

私の親戚がアイルランドは、自分たちも勝ち目がないから日本に勝って欲しいと思っているのだと言っていました。

日本はベルギーよりはるかにしたにランクづけられており、はじめの2ゴールで人々に衝撃を与えました。

悲しいことに、ベルギーが巻き返し、試合に勝ちましたが、わたしたちはワールドカップでの最大の逆転を目の当たりにするところでした

既に今から来年のカタールでのワールドカップが楽しみです。例えそれが4年後でも！

 

木々の間でセミが大きな声で鳴いていますね。もう本格的に夏ですね。お祭りの季節です。

先週の日曜日、田子の浦公園での田子の浦港祭りにいきました。

伝統舞踊や音楽ライブのある楽しいイベントでした。

とても蒸し暑かったので、すぐに屋台へ行き、夏まつりの必需品、「かき氷」を買いにいきました。

暑さの中で、涼むのにすばらしい方法です。しかし娘はかき氷が大好きなのでわたしにはあまり食べさせてくれません。

座って花火を見るために最高の席を浜の近くにとりました。

日本のどのまちも市も夏まつりを花火で締めくくります。毎年もっと派手にしようとしているように見えます。

星、花、それからスマイルマークをみれました！

今月はスペシャルゲストでディズニーパレードが付く、富士祭りもあります。

その日はきっと中央公園の近くは混雑するでしょう。お祭りの時期を楽しんでください！
