Hello everyone!

I hope you are doing well over this winter. I especially hope our Junior High School students aren’t pushing themselves too hard when studying for their upcoming high school entrance exams! Remember to take the time to relax so that you brain can absorb all that information.

This weekend is one of my favourite festivals in Japan, the Daruma festival! Every February we have visited Bishamonten Myohouji temple to enjoy the festival. It’s one of my favourite temples and I enjoy all the many traditions. The festival food is always good and there are so many Daruma to choose from to buy for the year. I just love walking around, seeing the lights, smelling the incense and learning more about Japanese history.

みなさん、こんにちは。マットです。

いかがお過ごしですか。特に中学生のみなさん、入試がもうすぐだと思いますが、無理しすぎないでくださいね。脳を活発にするためにも休憩やリラックスする時間も大事です。

今週末は、私の大好きなお祭りがあります。それは、「吉原の毘沙門天」（だるま祭り）です。毎月２月に、私たちは毘沙門天のこのお祭りに行きます。このお寺やお祭りの伝統的なものが大好きです。屋台の食べ物もおいしいですし、沢山のだるまが並んでいます。ちょうちんの明かりや、お香の匂い、日本の歴史を感じながら、歩いているだけでも楽しいお祭りです。
