Hello everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying the last days of summer. It’s been quite hot! I know I’m looking forward to some cooler autumn weather.

We’ve had a lot of rain this year which means a lot of days inside. Rainy days always remind me of reading and as a child one of my favourite things to read were comic books! In Japan, comic books are very popular for people of all ages, but in the West comic book sales are dominated by super heroes. In the past 15 years, super-heros have been dominating the cinema screens with a large amount of people going to watch every new super-hero movie. Even though they are very popular, their comic books are now read by a much smaller audience.

When I was young my favourites were Spider-Man, X-Men, The Hulk, and Iron Man. I also tried to get into as many other types of comics as I could. Horror stories, mystery books, fantasy and sci-fi. Luckily in Japan many of these genres are easy to find!

夏ももう終わりですが、まだかなり暑いですね。早く涼しい秋がきてほしいものです。

今年は雨が多かったので家で過ごす日が多くありました。雨の日といえば、子供の頃はよく漫画を読んで過ごしたものです。

日本では、漫画は子供から大人まで人気です。欧米ではヒーローものの漫画に人気が集中しています。この15年間、新しくでるスーパーヒーローで映画は大盛況です。しかしなぜか漫画本となると人気は少なくなります。私が子供のころ、大好きだったのは、スパイダーマン、X-men 、Hulk、アイアンマンでした。ほかの漫画もいろいろ読みました。ホラーやミステリー、ファンタジー、サイエンスフィクションなどなど。日本では、たくさんのジャンルの漫画が簡単に見つけられます。みなさんの好きな漫画はなんですか。
