So Christmas in the UK is a very special time. I havent been back to the UK for a few years now, so I havent had a proper UK Christmas for some time now.  In the UK families often celebrate Christmas together, so that they can watch each other open their presents. Like in other western countries most houses have a Christmas tree or maybe even two. The decorating of the Christmas tree is usually a family event and everyone helps to decorate. 

Also in most UK houses there are decorations such as Holly, Ivy and Mistletoe. There is an old saying that if you stand underneath the Mistletoe with someone you like then you are meant to kiss. 

Like many countries, Nativity plays and Carol services are popular around Christmas time.  If you live in a town then you will often find Candlelight services and Christingle services, which are often set up by the church. 

In the UK, Christmas dinner is usually eaten at lunchtime or early afternoon on Christmas day. Normally the meal is, roast turkey, roast vegetables, bacon and sausages. My family is a little different as we have a big family, so we normally have many different type of meat such as pork, rabbit, chicken and venison.  For dessert it is normally Christmas pudding, Mince pies, trifle, jelly, chocolate cake or sweets.

私の母国イギリスではクリスマスは特別なイベントです。

最近クリスマスの時期にイギリスには帰れていませんが。

イギリスの家庭では、クリスマスは家族で祝います。そしてお互いにプレゼントを開けます。

ほとんどの家庭には少なくとも1本のクリスマスツリーがあります。家族でツリーを飾るのもイギリスでは習慣です。ヒイラギ、アイビー、ヤドリギなどを飾ります。ヤドリギに下に意中の人と立つと、恋が実るといわれています。

食事については、クリスマスの食事はたいてい夜ではなく、ランチの時間に食べます。ローストターキー、ローストベジタブル、ベーコーンにソーセージ。私の家族は少し違っていて、大家族なので、ポークやうさぎ、チキン、シカ肉などたくさんの種類の食事を並べます。デザートは、一般的なのはクリスマスプディング、ミンスパイ、トライフル、ジェリー、チョコレートケーキなんかを食べます。
