Hello everyone 👋

I hope you’re all having a stress-free week 💆‍♂️💆‍♀️

As for me, I have a lot to think about at the moment…

You may have heard some news about a real estate company having issues with their buildings, resulting in the relocation of roughly 14,000 people 😨

Well as it turns out, I’m one of those people 😩

It’s ironic, I also moved a lot when I was younger. Now, I’ve actually lost count of how many times I’ve moved. I think it’s around 20 times across 7 cities and multiple countries 🤔

I guess I’m something off a rolling stone. I don’t mean the rock band! It means someone who moves around a lot. In English, we have a phrase “A rolling stone gathers no moss.”

That could have two meanings, depending on how you think of it. One thought is that if you move around too much, you can’t develop deep connections, so that’s a bad thing 🎒

Another thought is that if you live in many different communities you can learn more about the world, developing certain skills, which is a good thing 💼

A word that has two opposite meanings in English is called a contranym 🤯

From what I understand, the Japanese word “yabai” is something of a contranym.

Are there other contranyms in Japanese? Or how about phrases that have dual meanings? I’d love to hear about them if you know any.

楽しい一週間を過ごせていますか。わたしは考えなければならない事が多いです。

もしかしたら知っているかもしれませんが、ある不動産会社の建物が問題になり、およそ１万４千人の人が引っ越さなければならなくなるというニュースがありました。

実は私もそのうちの一人になってしまいました。

皮肉にも若い頃わたしはよく引越しをしていました。今は何回引っ越したか忘れてしまいました。たぶん７つの都市やいくつかの国を２０回位引っ越しました。

きっとわたしはローリングストーンなのでしょう。

ロックバンドのことではありません！ころころ頻繁に引っ越すことのことをそう言います。
