Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is staying dry and safe during the rainy season. Hopefully the rains will go away soon and we can properly start summer!

This week our students will have received their HARIO Speech Contest speeches! The staff at HARIO has worked hard translating, recording, editing and designing our special Speech Contest listening CDs and homework. So I hope everyone practices hard. Even if you aren’t selected to enter the Speech Contest, the speech homework is a great chance to learn some new vocabulary and practice speaking full English. A few of my students told me that they told their speech to their teachers and classmates at school and everyone was very impressed! So practice hard and show your family, teachers and friends how well you can speak.

Last year was my first time participating in the HARIO Speech Contest. It was a lot of fun and I got to listen to so many great speeches. I hope to hear everyone practicing and doing the best they can. If you practice well, maybe you will win a prize!

みなさん、こんにちは。

梅雨の季節、いかがお過ごしですか。早く梅雨が終わって、夏がきてほしいものです。

今週、ハリオの生徒達はスピーチホームワークを配られましたね。HARIOのスタッフたちは、このスピーチの準備に追われていました。翻訳、レコーディング、編集、CDのデザインづくり、ホームワークシート作成などなど。なので皆さんがこのCDを一生懸命練習してくれたらうれしいです。スピーチコンテスト出場者に選ばれなかったとしても、このスピーチホームワークは、新しい単語、英語のフレーズ、英語を発話する練習にとても役立ちます。ある生徒達は、学校などで習ったスピーチを披露したといっていました。すばらしいですね。皆さんも練習をがんばって家族や先生に皆さんがどれだけ話せるのかを見せてあげましょう。

去年が私にとって初めてのハリオのスピーチコンテストでした。とても楽しかったし、すばらしいスピーチを沢山聞くことができました。皆さんの健闘をいのります。練習をした分、大きな成果が返ってくるでしょう。
